Richmond

One of the most attractive outback towns in Queensland, Richmond takes pride in its appearance with streets of well-kept striking native and bougainvillea garden beds, parks and recreation areas. Situation half-way between Townsville and Mount Isa, Richmond’s location back in prehistoric times was submerged beneath an Ancient Inland Sea. As such, in modern times, there are fossilized remains of animal and plant life from this Sea which are known worldwide. It forms one third of the Australia Dinosaur Trail – a self-drive ‘triangle’ which also includes the towns of Winton and Hughenden. A range of active and passive recreational activities can be indulged in, with Lake Fred Tritton providing a place for fishing, boating, water-skiing, walking and swimming. There’s a little bit of Outback in everyone’s backyard and a whole lot more in Richmond.
Routes to Richmond are operated in conjunction with Queensland Government.
