WA Resident Fare Scheme

The Regional Airfare Zone Cap scheme is an initiative by the WA State Government in partnership with Rex.

For eligible residents, the ‘Resident Fares’ mean that they now pay only $398* for a return ticket to Perth when starting the journey from a regional city.

This includes all of the Rex services in WA linking Albany, Esperance, Carnarvon and Monkey Mia to Perth.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Permanent residents of Regional WA (not Perth or Peel),
  • Travel is for personal reasons only (not business travel or FIFO),
  • Passengers must complete a return journey into Perth, starting from a regional town.
A declaration must be made at time of booking and the details may be passed on to the WA State Government for audit and enforcement purposes.

Resident Fare benefits:
Regional residents will still be able to access fares below the Zone Cap price, such as Community Fares.

Community Fares:

The successful Community Fare scheme was launched in 2016, which saw more than 30% of passengers in WA benefiting from the scheme in 2021. For more information on the Community Fare Scheme, please see here.
