RESIDENT FARE (WA REGIONAL AIRFARE ZONE CAP SCHEME)



The Regional Airfare Zone Cap scheme is an initiative by the WA State Government in partnership with Rex.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the WA State Government Zone Cap Resident Fare, passengers must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Be a permanent resident of Regional Western Australia, excluding the Perth and Peel region.
  • Travel must be for personal reasons only and not for work purposes, including FIFO travel.
  • The Resident Fare must be booked as a return journey, departing from and returning to the same regional destination, with travel to and from Perth.
  • Passengers cannot exceed 12 return Resident Fare Trips in a calendar year.

A declaration must be made at time of booking and the details may be passed on to the WA State Government for audit and enforcement purposes.

For eligible residents, the scheme provides access to the following capped airfares:

  • $199 each way for eligible return bookings with travel up to and including 30 June 2026.
  • For travel from 1 July 2026 onwards, fares will be capped at $199 each way on low demand flights or $265 each way on high demand flights.

The scheme applies to all Rex services in Western Australia linking Albany, Esperance, Carnarvon and Monkey Mia with Perth.


Resident Fare benefits:
Regional residents will still be able to access fares below the Zone Cap price, such as Community Fares.

Resident Fare Terms and Conditions:

Booking a Resident Fare deems acceptance of the eligibility criteria outlined in the Fare Rules.

*Zone Cap Resident Fares include airport taxes and GST. Booking/Handling Fee and Payment Method Surcharge applies. Additional charges apply for ancillaries such as extra baggage or seat selection.
