The Bureau of Infrastructure Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) operates within the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts to provide information and analysis for the Government and the community, improving the understanding of the economic factors influencing the transport sector and regional Australia. BITRE does this by conducting and disseminating the results of relevant, high quality applied economic research and a range of information products. On time performance is reported for all routes which are flown by two or more airlines where the passenger load averages over 8,000 passengers per month. Routes which meet this definition may change as airline networks and traffic levels vary. Airlines also report overall monthly network performance. Total industry figures refer to all services operated by reporting airlines only. The method of capturing on time performance varies between airlines utilising different recording systems. After collection of initial data, aggregate reports are subject to internal audit by participating airlines prior to publication. Reports are published monthly and annually. Full BITRE reports are available on the BITRE website: https://www.bitre.gov.au/statistics/aviation/otphome.
