Immediate Taxi Pick-Up for Arriving Rex Passengers at Adelaide Airport
Wednesday, September 6, 2006

Regional Express (Rex) has confirmed that a specific taxi pick-up area for Rex’s Adelaide arriving passengers is now in place immediately in front of the arrival terminal.

Rex Managing Director Mr Geoff Breust said he was very pleased the Taxi Council and Adelaide Airport Limited (AAL) agreed to designate a taxi pick-up point directly outside the Rex arrival area for the benefit of regional passengers.

“The taxi issue, while totally outside Rex’s control, was one of our remaining pressing concerns. While most of our customers had commented on how quick and easy the new arrival procedure is at Adelaide Airport, the need to walk some 200 metres to the head of the taxi queue was a major issue. AAL and the Taxi Council have now fixed the problem and our passengers can hail a taxi right outside the front door of the terminal, allowing passengers to be on their way home in less than five minutes from arrival” Mr Breust said.

AAL has also indicated that Flight Information Display monitors are being installed in the arrival area and that air conditioning and lighting are also being improved.

A special telephone is also being installed so that passengers can contact Rex staff directly if required.

Mr Breust said that these matters were the few remaining issues to be sorted out following the introduction of the bus system for arriving Rex passengers at Adelaide Airport and thanked AAL for seeing through the improvements.
