Rex today announced that due to seasonal fluctuation in demand it would be reducing frequency between Kangaroo Island and Adelaide for a short period between Tuesday 20 May 2008 and Sunday 13 July 2008. The suspension will only apply to the evening service departing Adelaide at 6.55 p.m. and returning from Kangaroo Island at 7.50pm that operates Sunday to Friday inclusive.
General Manager Network Strategy and Sales, Mr Warrick Lodge, assured passengers that the change was short term, saying “This is a temporary reduction to the flight schedule that corresponds with the quieter winter demand on the Kangaroo Island route. The suspension of the evening service will be in place for less than eight weeks and the service will resume from Monday 14 July.
“Feedback from the Kangaroo Island community was that the early a.m. service departing Adelaide at 7.05 a.m. and returning from Kangaroo Island at 8.00 a.m. was more important to the local residents than the evening service and we have taken this feedback on board. It is, however, extremely important that we match supply and demand during the winter months, particularly in light of the pilot shortage.”
