From 5 April, Melbourne Airport commenced extensive runway upgrading to accommodate the new Airbus A380.
The project involves runway and taxiway pavement widening, upgrading runway lighting and other airfield services. The works are expected to be completed within 4 to 6 weeks. During certain times of the works, all aircraft will operate from Melbourne Airport's east/west runway.
Rex passengers may experience possible delays between 10 to 30 minutes during these peak traffic times:
• 7.30am to 9.30am
• 11.30am to 1.30pm
• 5.30pm to 7.30pm
Weather conditions may also impact further on delays during the period of works. All Rex passengers are advised to allow plenty of time when planning flights for time-critical appointments.
